2024-07-16

The Malaysian government is expected to soon enforce specific regulations prohibiting the sale of e-cigarettes or vaping-related products through vending machines, as reported by The Star on July 13.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that the Attorney-General's Chambers are in the final stages of reviewing the regulations before granting approval. He emphasized, "We will be closely monitoring nationwide sales of e-cigarettes through vending machines to ensure compliance with upcoming regulations and orders." These regulations and orders are currently undergoing final review at the Attorney General's Office.

"God willing, once approved by the Attorney General's office, we will proceed with implementing these regulations and orders."

On Saturday (July 13), a shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur was instructed to cease selling e-cigarettes through vending machines.

The Health Ministry explained in a statement that this action was taken in response to complaints received regarding the sale of e-cigarette products through vending machines.
